On the People’s Court side, Ms. Nguyễn Thị Thùy Dung, Deputy Chief Justice, led the delegation, with the participation of the Chief Judge, Deputy Chief Judges, and Judges of the Economic Court of the City People's Court. On the side of VIAC, Prof. Dr. Lê Hồng Hạnh, President of VIAC, co-chaired the meeting, along with members of VIAC’s Board of Management and several VIAC officials.
At the meeting, Ms. Nguyễn Thị Thùy Dung, Deputy Chief Justice of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court, congratulated Prof. Dr. Le Hong Hanh on assuming the position of President of VIAC and expressed confidence in VIAC's future development. She also emphasized the importance of coordination between the Court and VIAC, particularly in the role of overseeing and supporting arbitration organizations in general, and VIAC specifically, in resolving commercial disputes in Ho Chi Minh City. Ms. Dung shared that in recent years, Ho Chi Minh City's emergence as a major economic hub of Vietnam has attracted many domestic and foreign businesses to invest and operate, which has boosted VIAC's activities in the area, with an increasing number of arbitral awards being issued.
Given that Ho Chi Minh City currently accounts for a large proportion of the total awards issued by VIAC, the leaders of both sides discussed goals to further promote the development of more effective arbitration methods in the city. Ms. Dung highly appreciated the quality of VIAC's arbitrators, particularly in Ho Chi Minh City, where many experts are knowledgeable and capable of applying international standards. Based on this, developing training programs to enhance the skills of arbitrators, improving dispute resolution quality to compete with regional and international arbitration organizations, should be a focus. The judges of the Economic Court praised the quality of VIAC's awards in recent times and expressed their hope that VIAC will continue to improve and further advance the quality of awards issued in the future.
