In 2025, VIAC handled 532 new cases, further reinforcing the growing trust of both domestic and international business communities in VIAC as one of Vietnam’s leading dispute resolution institutions. The disputes covered a wide range of sectors, including sale of goods, construction, real estate, finance, and energy, while also expanding into emerging areas such as e-commerce and fintech. This trend reflects both the dynamism of the Vietnamese economy and arbitration’s increasingly important role in commercial activities. To date, businesses from 68 countries and territories have participated in dispute resolution proceedings at VIAC, reaffirming VIAC’s international reputation and standing.
One of VIAC’s most significant institutional milestones in 2025 was the drafting and consultation process for the 2026 Rules of Arbitration, which are intended to replace the 2017 Rules. Effective from 1 March 2017, the 2017 Rules have fulfilled their role over nearly a decade, with approximately 2,000 cases resolved under this framework. However, with 32 years of experience in arbitration, VIAC recognizes that procedural rules must continue to evolve in line with market developments and practical demands. A modern arbitral institution must ensure that its rules remain responsive to the increasingly sophisticated expectations of arbitration users.
