Assoc. Prof. Dr, Arbitrator Nguyen Ba Binh appointed as Vice Rector for 2024-2029 term

On October 10, 2024, the Hanoi Law University held a formal ceremony to announce the appointment of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Binh, Head of the International Trade Law Department as the new Vice Rector for the 2024-2029 term.

In his speech at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Oanh emphasized that after more than a year, Hanoi Law University had completed its leadership structure. He praised Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Binh for his solid academic training both domestically and internationally, as well as his extensive leadership experience in various roles. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Binh has had experience in union work, scientific research, and teaching. The Deputy Minister expressed confidence that Dr. Bình's skills, responsibility, and enthusiasm would enable him to succeed in his new role and learn from the experiences of previous leaders. He also urged the Council of the University will maintain unity, consensus, and democracy, and support Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Binh in his duties.

On behalf of the University Council, Dr. Chu Manh Hung, Chairman of the Council, expressed his hopes that Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Binh would quickly begin his work with dedication, commitment and responsibility. He emphasized the importance of consensus, cooperation and support from all leaders of the University, as well as the direction of the Ministry of Justice to ensure the success of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Binh in this position.

On behalf of the university, Dr. Doan Trung Kien, the Rector, requested that Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Binh thoroughly understand and implement the guidance provided by Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Oanh and the Chairman of the University Council. He specifically emphasized the importance of adhering to the commitments Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Binh had presented at the fourth-stage Conference on the action plan. Dr. Doan Trung Kien also urged the staff to continue supporting Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Binh, helping him to successfully complete the tasks assigned by the Party, the Ministry of Justice, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Oanh, and the university's leadership team.

In his acceptance speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Binh fully recognized that there would be new and complex challenges ahead, especially in the context of university autonomy and digital transformation. The new Vice Rector also acknowledged the importance of adhering closely to the principles, policies, and guidelines of the Party, the laws of the State, and the university’s internal regulations in order to effectively carry out the university’s work. He emphasized the need for unity, collaboration, and collective effort with the university’s leadership, department heads, faculty, and staff to responsibly and creatively contribute to the university’s sustainable development, including the task outlined in Decision No. 1156/QD-TTg by the Prime Minister on further developing the university into a key institution for training legal professionals. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Binh also pledged to stay approachable, listen to the concerns and aspirations of the staff and students, and ensure that all feedback is properly received and any issues are addressed promptly and responsibly.

In order to successfully complete his tasks, the new Vice Rector Nguyen Ba Binh expressed his hope that he would continue to receive guidance, attention, and support from the leadership of the Ministry of Justice, the Party Committees of Hanoi's universities and colleges, the university's Party Committee, the University Council, and the University’s Executive Board. He also looked forward to the continued support and collaboration of the university's key leaders, faculty, staff, and students across the institution.
