Participating in the meeting, on behalf of VIAC were Prof. Dr. Le Hong Hanh, Chairman of the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) and Head of the Delegation; Ms. Tran Bao Ngoc, Director of VIAC’s Promotion and Development Department; and relevant VIAC staff. Representing the Hanoi Bar Association were Mr. Huynh Phuong Nam, Chairman; Ms. Nguyen Thi Dinh Huong, Vice Chairwoman and Director of the Hanoi Lawyer Professional Training Centre; Mr. Hoang Minh Hien, Vice Chairman and Head of the Communications, Culture and Sports Committee; Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich, Vice Chairwoman of the Commendation and Disciplinary Council; and Ms. Nguyen Phuong Ngoc, Deputy Chief of Office.

Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Dr. Le Hong Hanh, Chairman of VIAC, expressed his pleasure at returning to the headquarters of the Hanoi Bar Association. He highly appreciated the Association’s positive contributions to legal dissemination and education, as well as the provision of free legal aid to the public.

According to the VIAC Chairman, following the signing of the cooperation agreement, the two organisations have implemented a number of practical, in-depth activities that have generated significant impact and recognition. Prof. Dr. Le Hong Hanh expressed his hope that the two sides would continue to coordinate effectively in the coming period, particularly by strengthening training and professional development activities and cooperation in commercial arbitration and commercial mediation. Such efforts would contribute to enhancing capacity in resolving commercial disputes through arbitration and mediation – mechanisms that are playing an increasingly important role in the modern economy.

The VIAC Chairman also expressed his wish that, through its activities, the Hanoi Bar Association would further disseminate information and help businesses better understand the advantages of resolving disputes through arbitration, while also promoting international cooperation in the legal field.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Huynh Phuong Nam, Chairman of the Hanoi Bar Association, shared that he himself had participated in various training programmes and knowledge-updating courses on arbitration organised by VIAC. He noted that VIAC’s professional development activities were highly practical and valuable for the Association’s lawyers.

Chairman Huynh Phuong Nam expressed his hope that VIAC would consider expanding and diversifying its professional training programmes, while continuing to coordinate in communication and outreach activities and jointly organise conferences, seminars, expert discussions and in-depth forums on business and commercial law, enterprises, investment, advocacy skills in arbitration and mediation proceedings, as well as supporting communication and outreach initiatives.

Previously, on 5 December 2024, the Hanoi Bar Association officially signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC). The signing marked an important milestone in strengthening cooperation between the two organisations, with a view to enhancing the capacity for out-of-court dispute resolution and developing professional legal services in Vietnam.

The Cooperation Agreement between the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre and the Hanoi Bar Association not only represents an important step towards the development of the legal profession and the enhancement of the quality of legal activities and services, but also opens up opportunities for closer and more sustainable cooperation between the two organisations. Through continued partnership and commitment, the two sides look forward to creating practical value and contributing to the sustainable development of their respective professional activities.
