VIAC Welcomes and Meets with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to Vietnam

On 1 June 2026, Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) welcomed a delegation from the Embassy of Switzerland in Vietnam, led by H.E. Thomas Gass - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to Vietnam. The delegation visited VIAC and held a working meeting with its leadership to discuss potential areas of cooperation between VIAC and Swiss Confederation.

Attending the meeting on behalf of VIAC were Prof. Dr. Le Hong Hanh - President of Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC); Mr. Vu Anh Duong – Permanent Vice President cum Secretary General of VIAC; along with other members of the Centre's leadership and representatives from its specialized departments and professional divisions.

During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Le Hong Hanh - President of Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC), extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the Embassy of Switzerland in Vietnam on the occasion of their visit to VIAC. He noted that the meeting served as a valuable opportunity for both parties to deepen mutual understanding, exchange experiences, and discuss the practical aspects of dispute resolution in Vietnam as well as across the region.

As Vietnam’s leading arbitration and mediation institution with an established international reputation, the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) has, in recent years, administered thousands of domestic and international disputes across a wide range of sectors, including the sale of goods, transportation, insurance, construction, finance, banking, investment, and many others. These disputes have involved parties from nearly all provinces and cities in Vietnam, as well as from countries and territories that are among Vietnam’s key trading and economic partners. Over more than three decades of establishment and development, VIAC has continuously strengthened its institutional capacity and standing, earning the trust of the domestic and international business community while serving as a reliable and respected forum for the fair and effective resolution of commercial disputes.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Thomas Gass - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to Vietnam, emphasized that, as a country with a long-standing reputation in international arbitration, Switzerland places great importance on fostering a secure, transparent, and predictable legal environment for investors. Reaffirming the pivotal role of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms, the Ambassador expressed Switzerland's readiness to serve as a bridge for sharing practical experience and expertise, thereby supporting the further development of commercial dispute resolution mechanisms in Vietnam.

In his discussion with Prof. Dr. Le Hong Hanh, Ambassador Thomas Gass expressed his admiration for VIAC's remarkable growth and achievements in recent years, while commending the Centre's professionalism in the wide range of initiatives and activities it has undertaken. On this occasion, the Ambassador also extended his sincere appreciation to the leadership of VIAC, and particularly to Prof. Dr. Le Hong Hanh, for their continued support, legal assistance, and close cooperation with Swiss enterprises operating in Vietnam. He further expressed the Embassy's hope to strengthen its collaboration with VIAC through future events and programmes aimed at fostering closer engagement with the business communities of both countries.

The meeting concluded in an open and cordial atmosphere. The discussions not only further strengthened the partnership between the Embassy of Switzerland in Vietnam and VIAC, but also laid a solid foundation for future collaborative initiatives. Both sides expressed their shared expectation of working together to promote effective dispute resolution mechanisms, delivering practical benefits and reinforcing the confidence of the Vietnamese and Swiss business communities.
