On October 18th, 2024, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Justice hosted the Conference on Legal Knowledge Training and Addressing Difficulties in Commercial Arbitration. The Conference aimed to enhance legal knowledge on dispute resolution through commercial arbitration for legal professionals such as arbitrators and lawyers, as well as law students in Hanoi.
The event featured Ms. Lai Thi Van Anh, Deputy Director of the International Law Department at the Ministry of Justice and Listed Arbitrator at Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC), and Mr. Nguyen Manh Dzung, Director at ADR Vietnam Chambers LLC, Deputy Director at Vietnam Institute for International Arbitration Research and Training (VIART) – a division of VIAC, as keynote speakers. The conference also attracted a significant number of arbitrators, lawyers, and students with an interest in this field.

In the first session of the Conference, Ms. Lai Thi Van Anh - Deputy Director of the International Law Department of the Ministry of Justice, VIAC Listed Arbitrator gave a presentation on the topic “Investment Arbitration – Considerations in Dispute Resolution”. She elaborated on the main characteristics of investment arbitration, and the differences between investment arbitration and commercial arbitration, particularly in terms of the scope and content of disputes.

In the second session, Lawyer and Arbitrator Mr. Nguyen Manh Dung presented on the topic "Skills for Effective Case Management in Arbitration Proceedings", providing solutions to the challenges in case management under Vietnamese law. He discussed key management skills and tools for effective case management, as well as negotiation and mediation during the stages of a dispute, thus helping lawyers develop the best strategies to protect their clients' interests.
