The overview of the Soul of Law 2023
Coming back with its 11th edition with the theme "Enterprises", SOL 2023 continues to be an interesting competition and a place to acquire and extend knowledge from leading experts and law practitioners, helping contestants with practical experiences for their future careers. Soul of Law 2023 has received the companionship of various professional sponsors, including the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC). The competition took place from 09 April to 23 June 20223 with three rounds: the Individual Test, the Legal Consultation, and the Grand Final including three stages - Quick Questions and Answers, Proposal Submission, and Arbitration.
At the end of the first round - Individual Test, the 24 contestants with the highest scores are divided into 8 teams and proceeded to the second round - Legal Consultation. Provided with training sessions on both knowledge and skills, the teams had good performances in the second round. Notably, after two years of being held online, at Soul of Law 2023, teams had the opportunity to present their consulting reports in-person to the judges – who played roles as clients). The 9 contestants with the best performance in the Legal Consultation were selected to advance to the Grand Finale.
The Board of Judges of the Grand Finale of Soul of Law 2023
After more than a month of preparation, the three teams performed excellently in the Grand Finale on June 23. In the Grand Finale, Attorney-at-law, Mr. Luu Ngoc Quang, Deputy Manager of the VIAC Secretariat, represented VIAC as Chairman of the Board of Judges. Through three thrilling stages, the Board of Judges, consisting of lawyers from leading law firms in Vietnam, has nominated the teams with prestigious awards.

Team ATHENA consisted of three contestants: Ms. Vu Thi Thanh Nhan - Foreign Trade University, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao - Foreign Trade University, and Mr. Nguyen Nam Hai - Hanoi Law University excellently won the First prize. Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao of team ATHENA also received the title of the Best Oralist. Team The Wings, including Ms. Doan Minh Phuong - Hanoi Law University, Ms. Le Ngoc Minh - Foreign Trade University, and Mr. Tran Hieu - Hanoi Law University, won the Second prize, along with the awards of the Team with the Most Feasible Proposal and the Most Liked Team. The Third prize went to the NBH team consisting of students: Mr. Nguyen Nam Nga - Hanoi Law University, Ms. Le Khanh Hoa - Foreign Trade University, and Ms. Phan Ngoc Bich - Foreign Trade University.

After 3 months of tough competition, from more than 200 contestants nationwide to 9 finalists, the Soul of Law 2023 has ended successfully. As a Professional sponsor that has accompanied the Soul of Law Competition for years and other mock competitions, VIAC hopes that students will become more actively participating and gain more experiences through law-related competitions. As the leading arbitration and mediation organization, VIAC is willing to accompany domestic and foreign mock arbitration competitions, aiming to foster the growth of professional competitions in the future.
