During the discussion, representatives of the VIAC provided an overview of the history and development of VIAC, as well as its role in Vietnam’s commercial dispute resolution system. In addition, the presentation focused on the ADR legal landscape, highlighting recent developments in expanding the scope of arbitration agreements through recently enacted legal documents. VIAC’s representative also discussed notable features of dispute resolution practice at the Centre, particularly the significant increase in the number of cases involving foreign elements, while providing detailed information on the arbitral proceedings at VIAC.

Based on the presentation, the international students actively engaged in the discussion and raised various questions concerning arbitral proceedings, the role of arbitral institutions, as well as issues commonly arising in dispute resolution practice. VIAC’s representative directly addressed their questions and shared further practical insights, helping the students gain a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the professional arbitration environment.
Through direct exchanges with the VIAC Secretariat, the students were able to bridge academic knowledge with practical arbitration practices, while gaining a better understanding of the professional environment and expertise required in the field of commercial arbitration. Furthermore, the program contributed to strengthening academic exchanges and engagement among VIAC, HLU, and the international law student community, thereby promoting the role of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in the context of increasingly globalized trade and deeper international cooperation.
