The module focused on equipping prospective lawyers with essential knowledge and practical advocacy skills in arbitral proceedings, ranging from mastering procedural stages to key strategic considerations in safeguarding clients' legitimate rights and interests. A centerpiece of the discussion was the 2026 VIAC Rules of Arbitration, where the lecturer and trainees actively engaged with notable advancements, including the consolidation of arbitrations, joinder of additional parties, expedited procedures, and the med-arb hybrid mechanism. These developments were introduced to provide trainees with deeper insights into modern arbitral mechanisms designed to enhance procedural flexibility, efficiency, and real-world responsiveness to dispute settlement needs.

In addition to procedural reforms, the thematic session addressed orientations toward accelerating digital transformation and technological application in arbitral proceedings. Trainees were introduced to the VIAC eCase platform, which offers digital case file management, electronic document submission, and real-time tracking of procedural milestones. Furthermore, conducting virtual and hybrid hearings, coupled with leveraging emerging IT tools and Artificial Intelligence (AI) across arbitral workflows, highlighted the ongoing modernization of arbitration practice. Through this exchange, trainees acquired practical perspectives on navigating contemporary arbitral proceedings and identified the essential competencies required to adapt to technological advancements throughout their professional careers.
